Ryan McGill

Old City Photo Co. is a Knoxville-based photography studio built around two things: real estate photography that helps listings move, and commercial photography that gives local brands the visual confidence to compete.

Every shoot is handled personally by Ryan McGill. With a background in portraiture, photojournalism, architecture, and commercial work, Ryan brings a compositional instinct to every project that purely technical shooters often miss. You will never be handed off to an associate.

We work with independent agents, brokerages, developers, restaurants, retailers, law firms, and startups throughout Knoxville and East Tennessee.

Common questions

FAQ

How should I prepare a property for a real estate shoot? +
Declutter all surfaces, remove personal items from counters, make beds, open blinds, and turn on all interior lights. We'll send a detailed prep checklist when you book. A little preparation makes a significant difference in the final images.
Do you travel outside of Knoxville? +
Yes — we cover the greater Knoxville metro including Maryville, Oak Ridge, Lenoir City, Sevierville, and surrounding East Tennessee counties. Travel fees may apply for locations beyond 30 miles from Knoxville.
What if the weather is bad on shoot day? +
We'll reschedule at no charge. For real estate, overcast skies are actually ideal for interiors — we only reschedule for rain or conditions that affect exterior quality. We'll always give you at least 24 hours notice.
Can I request specific shots or angles? +
Absolutely. You're welcome to provide a shot list and we'll do our best to capture everything on it. We'll also bring our own eye to the space — often the best shots are ones neither of us planned.
What rights do I have to the images? +
Real estate packages include MLS and marketing rights. Commercial packages include full commercial licensing for web, print, and advertising use. Ryan retains copyright as the photographer, but you have full license to use the images for your business purposes.
Do you offer recurring or retainer pricing for agents? +
Yes. Agents and brokerages with consistent monthly volume can access preferred rates and priority scheduling. Reach out directly and we'll put together an arrangement that works for your business.
